May Day Cafe is not just labor day weekend, but especially the feast of sant'efisio. This year for the 359 ^ time will repeat the ritual of devotion which will bring the holy place of martyrdom, which occurred at Nora in 303 a.d.

The procession, besides being one of the oldest, is also the longest Italian religious procession, which trails in four days 65 kilometers.

The story goes that in 1656 Cagliari prayed the Holy so that defeated the terrible wave of plague that had spread in the island by 1652. Cagliari had become a graveyard for this was the municipality of Cagliari to make the vow to Sant'Efisio: if he could defeat the plague, transpiring every year a procession and festivities in his honor, from the District of Stampace, until Nora, where the Saint was martyred. In September, the heavy rains made it disappear the plague. So from 1 St may 1657 the vote is repeated continuously.

A procession in which devotion, faith, culture and tradition come together and create a perfect setting which has its climax when the Saint makes his passing in front of the Town Hall of the city of Cagliari on a carpet of rose petals.

There are several initiatives that see the municipal administration engaged in the protection of cultural heritage and the feast of Sant'Efisio, thanks also to the help of the devotees and participants that every year, more and more numerous, they follow their Saint.
