The Festino di Santa Rosalia, held from 10 to 15 July a Palermo, is a religious celebration, big popular event based on the story of the miracle of the victory on the plague. On the night of 14 June the party reached its peak with a procession, accompanied by songs of devotion in rhyme, which starts from Palazzo dei Normanni crosses the whole Cassaro and get to Porta Felice. The city becomes a stage with spectacular lights games.

Rosalia's story:

"We are in the middle ages, in a courtyard and an open world to know, was born Rosalia, Roger's favourite and most beautiful lady of many that enriched their loveliness. Yet this privileged girl decided not only to leave the Court, not only to refuse a prestigious marriage but to get first Basilian monk, putting himself at the service of the last of the Earth, and then retire as a hermit without anything if not his own habit and feeding nothing that his refuge was offered. We left from this choice. That was not the "withdraw from the world", but the refusal of the privilege to take care of the poor, the poor, those who possess nothing, not possessing nothing itself. Rosalia's life you will tell the Cathedral through the language of popular show, with screenings and appearances of the Cathedral, with a mobile stage movement accompanying seven scenes that make up the narrative, with voices and music of various periods from birth by the defeat of the plague.

Another theme: women. Women who care, women who work, women caretakers of the weaknesses of our civilization. And then a Party totally female dancers and actresses from running their performances, to women who, for the first time, are responsible for bringing the tank physically: women of civil society, entrepreneurs, workers, housewives, artists ... women of Palermo that lead the wagon/vessel (symbol of the Church in perpetual movement) through the streets of Palermo with his chariot meaning of suffering and hope, and, especially, to take charge of the last of the Earth.
