In Nola (NA) on 28 June back la FESTA DEI GIGLI. The first accurate historical sources about this event dates back to 1500, thanks to the historic nolano Ambrose lion. He speaks of "waxy" describing it as a "great torch like a column on and adorned with ears of corn"peasants and artisans, made with money and carried on his shoulder during the procession of the Saint. This procession was taking place on the streets of the city and every art or profession you took part realising its waxy; right behind were monks and priests, clerics, finally the Bishop with the relics of the Holy Cross and locked in a silver hand.
The Bishop was accompanied by count and the "master", then the nobles and the first citizens (in the last few years has been included in the program of the Festival "the parade" that evokes this procession).
By the mid ' 700 the Remondini talks about new machines called "never" or "gigli" adorned with flowers that were shaped like Globes or pyramids or ships. It is likely that competition between the various corporations who were attending the procession had led to this evolution, perhaps suggested by the architect and set designer Ferdinand.
Today the feast of lilies is the event most awaited by the people of the city of Nola.
The lily is in fact the symbol of faith and love for the patron saint. Initially used as a simple ornament for the candles carried in procession, the lily has become, over time, a real wooden structure made by craftsmen, shipwrights, carpenters and carpenters on the basis of continuous annual experiences determined by the good o failure of the previously built structure,
Lilies are now built on the system of the "beads", a central axis on which all the structural elements are connected in a condition of greater stability and elasticity. This system, first introduced in 1887 by the master carpenter Philip cantaloupe, is the innovative element that radically changed the structural setting of the lily, making it more flexible and capable of supporting the efforts and internal tensions caused by dynamic forces acting on the structure, especially in the State of motion.

The set of cullatori, normally around 120, is called paranza.
