"The most notable aspect of the Licatese tradition lies in the "Pasturali" which is represented from 26 December to 6 January according to commissioning methods similar to those of the "novena". Given the duration, no less than forty minutes, and the cost, almost corresponding to that agreed for an entire novena, the number of Pastorals staged every year rarely exceeds a dozen. The representation requires the presence of six characters: three shepherds called Bardàssaru, Marsioni and Titu (which in the local tradition are the names of the Magi), a Curàtulu (farm superintendent) and two musicians.”
