The Cantamaggio, together with the Pasquella, Scacciamarzo and the passion, is one of the best known traditional songs begging rituals of our brand Central.
These propitiatory songs are performed by popular musicians and singers since time immemorial, who brought home for home-and still carry-wellness for the community and individual greetings for the season that begins, following a precise ceremonial.
Players arrive at home and ask with ceremonial courtesy permission to play. The family reunited listen chanting with respectful attention and then comes the moment of gifts to the team of musicians.
Frequently it ends with two steps of scamper, maybe singing ditties improvised to imprint on the House where the musicians are guests.
At the end of it all, the host family offers gifts in kind to the team (today often replaced by small sums of money), as a reward for bringing good luck for the coming season.
