The dance of Mamuthones and Isshohadores

The images were made in Mamoiada on January 17, 2014 on the feast of Sant'Antonio abate when traditional masks Mamuthones and of the Issohadores they make their first appearance of the year.

The parade runs from afternoon to late evening; all day long the contained limited food and drink since the show requires effort and the straps of cowbells compress the chest.
The behavior of Mamuthones and Issohadores doesn't remember a happy Carnival as a solemn procession composed and neat, a ceremony reminiscent of a religious procession.
The tread to advance and shake the bells reminiscent of a dance, "a procession danced» as defined by the Ethnologist Raphael Brands who first in the years ' 40, observed closely at this event.
